University Library Service

09/16/2020 | 10:50 AM

The University Library in the VU Main Building is open daily for pickup and consultation of pre reserved books. There are also a limited number of study places available for students who, for whatever reason, are unable to study from home. Check here for an overview of available places.

Plan your visit
A large portion of our collection can be consulted digitally from home. By installing the Library Access plugin you will automatically receive notification while browsing if you have access to digital content. For more information go to our page on access from outside the campus.

In case you do need to borrow a book from our collection, you can make a reservation via LibSearch. You will receive notification as soon as the book is ready for pickup (don’t forget to check your spam box).

Please read the information on our ‘Visit and Use’ page before visiting the University Library.

Special Collections
You can make an appointment  to consult materials from our Special Collections and Archives by email at ask.ub@vu.nl or by calling 020 598 5200.

Other Library Members
Unfortunately, as a consequence of the campus entry restrictions, the University Library is still closed to new non university members. If you are already a member, you can make an appointment to collect or consult books. Please take in to account that there are a very limited number of locations for consulting literature.
