The UKB consortium and Oxford University Press (OUP) are currently negotiating a new read-and-publish agreement for the coming years. This means that the deal on free publishing between OUP and Dutch universities has been temporarily suspended.

While the negotiations are ongoing, OUP can charge researchers a fee for publishing open access articles, the so-called article processing charche (APC). To prevent this APC from being passed on, the University Library strongly advises VU researchers to register accepted articles in OUP journals for the subscription model (closed access). As soon as the new agreement with OUP is signed, the eligible publications will be made public retroactively (open access).
