What is the best way to start my search?
We would advise commencing your search in LibSearch. In LibSearch you can search library collections worldwide. If you prefer to limit your search results to libraries in the Netherlands or simply the VU Library, you can filter your results. Use the 'Library' filter on the left of the results list.
If the item you are searching for is not available in the VU collection, you can request it by clicking the ‘Request item through Interlibrary Loan’ button:
The easiest way to find the title of an e-journal? (title known)
Titles of e-journals from the UBVU collection can easily be found via Library links > e-Journals A-Z
The easiest way to find an article? (reference known)
Search LibSearch with some characteristic title-words; add optional author’s last name.
How to find e-resources
An increasing number of our e-Resources is available in LibSearch. For all e-Resources use Library links > other VU-resources > e-resources A-Z
What if an online item is not available
It can occur that you do not gain access to a specific item, even though you should be able to.
If this is the case, please let us know via Library Links > Ask your library and we will try to solve the problem.
What if I can’t access a specific journal or article?
If you search for the e-journal or article through LibSearch, please check the publisher’s website as well (a link is available in your search result). It is quite possible that the e-journal or article is available there.
If you can’t access the item, please let us know via Library Links> Ask your Library, ans we will try to solve the issue.

All VU dissertations print and electronic are available in LibSearch and via Library links > other VU-resources > VU dissertations A-Z
Please note: the database only contains the electronic versions.

Theses of VU students are available via LibSearch.> Library links > other VU-resources > VU student thesis A-Z

Use filters (“sort by”) on left hand side of the screen or use Advanced Search
