How to find a document
To find the call number of a document, you'll want to search Libsearch.

With each item you find the location (Main Building or Medical Library) and call number (e.g. Main Building MAINOPEN Selfservice (normal loan) QA.11127; Medical Library KLIOPEN Selfservice (normal loan) P.LPK: QZ 50). Please write down the complete call number.

Publications in open stacks are marked "Selfservice" or "Reference only". Items in closed stacks are marked "Stack request".  

Where to get it?
The call number directs you to the location of the book: in the VU Main Building (e.g. MAINOPEN Selfservice or_09OPEN Selfservice 9th floor or Medical Library. The signs will lead you to the correct shelf.
Normal loan publications in open stacks can be borrowed at the self service station or desk.  

Closed stacks – Make a reservation!
Please note! To obtain books from the closed stacks (marked "Stack request"), you have to make a reservation. Check Libsearch for the location of your item. 
Books will be collected from the closed stacks at fixed intervals. See Reserving
Your collection notice and "My account" in Libsearch will state the desk where to collect the item (see Desks, opening hours). 

When the item you are searching for is not available in the VU collection, you can request it from another library by clicking the button:

Loan periods
Most books may be borrowed for a standard period of 4 weeks. Restricted loans such as course literature may be borrowed for a shorter period (same day return).
Journals and reference books in the Library Reading Rooms are available for consultation only, and may not be borrowed.

Two days before the end of the loan period we will send you a reminder by email.

You may renew library materials up to a maximum of five times.
